AIB – Winner of the 2025 Corporate Impact Award

AIB has established itself as a recognised leader in sustainability through its “Pledge to Do More” initiative, demonstrating exceptional commitment to resilience and positive societal impact. The bank’s partnership with the GOAL Mile fundraiser exemplifies this commitment, transforming a cherished Christmas tradition into an even more powerful force for humanitarian aid.

The GOAL Mile, celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2022, is GOAL’s longest-running fundraiser. Since AIB’s involvement, the event has seen remarkable growth: funds raised increased by 180%, locations expanded by 72%, and online registrations rose by 16%. This impressive expansion is supported by a comprehensive 12-week PR and social media campaign run jointly by GOAL and AIB, valued at over €2.3 million, which significantly enhances campaign visibility while promoting GOAL’s critical humanitarian work worldwide.

The partnership has generated vital unrestricted funding that has improved food security, health access, and community resilience while providing critical emergency support in some of the world’s most vulnerable regions. AIB’s contributions extend beyond financial support to include staff involvement and strategic guidance that has strengthened GOAL’s fundraising capabilities and disaster relief initiatives.

In 2024, AIB launched its innovative “Step Up Together” campaign to deepen community engagement, increase registrations, and raise funds for communities impacted by crisis, conflict, and climate change. This initiative leveraged AIB’s extensive network of 170+ branches to mobilise local communities, appointing 8 Regional GOALies to establish new GOAL Mile events and promote participation through various in-branch activities including posters, window displays, and digital screens with QR codes for donations and registrations.

The 2024 campaign yielded impressive results: a 16% increase in registrations, 14% increase in fundraising, 26% increase in GOAL Mile locations, and a remarkable 150% increase in AIB employee engagement. Through strategic community involvement, partnerships, and targeted ambassador and influencer activations, AIB has created meaningful impact while positioning the GOAL Mile as an accessible and important way for Irish communities to support vulnerable populations globally.
